Bah Humbug! Here's hoping that you are not getting this piece of stale digital fruitcake for Christmas.

I should have known better. Take a look at this description found on the back of the game box:

"Imagine what I'll be like to blaze through a dazzling future, defying gravity with every turn, your heart thumping, your enemies hot on your heels, state-of-the-art weapons at your fingertips. You can stop imagining.

Pulse Racer is HERE!"

Puuuuuuu-lease!

Lets see. How does this sound. Drive around generic looking futuristic courses in what seems to be go carts from the future. Get to exited and you're player will pass out and have a heart attack. How do you get exited? By pressing forward on the left analog stick to give yourself sort of a turbo boost by leaning the driver forward a bit. Sound lame? It is.

Ok, now lets borrow stuff that never really worked for other games. How about a electronic beam that lets you whip around corners when you us it. Lets put power ups all over the place that do little to help you in the game. Let's have the CPU drivers ram you since they cannot race.

And then. let's turn that analog controller pad into a simulated digital pad so that turning looks really jerky. Oh, and lets penalize anyone that tries to use a button for the accelerator, for some reason you cannot get full power this way. You'll have to use the right stick to get the pedal to the "floor" for maximum speed.

There was a feature that caught my eye. A track generator. I tried it. When I tested the track with more than 5 racers the thing suffered from slow down that I have not seen since playing Super Cross 3D on the Atari Jaguar. At times it looked as if I was watching a slide show.

Jaleco and Microsoft should be really ashamed and deserve to loose sales and market share based on their decisions to release such a bad game on the market.
