Gungrave is a dark, violent never stop shooting kind of game. In Gungrave, you are actually rewarded for continuous fire! This anime inspired game is full style and attitude. Hey, the hero has a coffin strapped to his back that is actually a powerful weapon. A gun in each hand, Gungrave is Rambo taken to the next level. Evil doers are on notice.

Gungrave, boiled down to its basic design, is a 3D shooter with 2D attitude. Shoot everything. Then shoot it again. Fight though the level and meet up with the level boss. Figure out the bosses weakness, dispatch and move on. Oh, and shoot everything.

Gungrave's graphics style boarders on the gritty side of cell shading. It fits. You'll feel like you are actually participating in an anime feature at times. Borring heavily from the John Woo movies, Grave is able to pull off some spectacular moves as he dispatches his adversaries. Leap, dive and move. Perform combos for extra style points! It is you against "The Syndicate" and their mutant legions of evil. Its all good.

The control scheme works well. There is much to learn as you figure out how to best utilize the combos and ultra cool moves.

The game is relatively short. This is the curse of most shooters. But it is a fun ride while it lasts. There are many secrets to unlock, and over 70 "virtual action" figures to collect. The movie style cut scenes are excellent and are worth seeing again and again.
This is one of those pick up and play games that'll help you take the edge off after a hard day. Pure fantasy. Pure fun.
