Army Men Green Rogue - PS2

What where they thinking? Does 3DO actually believe that this game is anything but pure and unadulterated rubbish? Do they care so little about the gamer?

They've got the nerve to call this game a "New Arcade-Style High-Tech Shooter." What?!? It is anything but. I dare say that no one on the development team has ever played an arcade game much less seen one.

Get this, they even go on to claim that: "Army Men : Green Rogue incorporates a 3rd person shooter with COIN-OP shoot 'em style gameplay that will raise the heartbeat of anyone who dares to accept the challenge." Yeah, your heart will beat will raise alright . with rage and anger. Do we need such lying and deception? Did 3DO think that they'd not be found out?

Anyway... Green Rogue is an ill conceived and very lousy game on rails. It is constantly moving at a very slow pace. The engine is bug ridden. I've had it simply freeze up on me. And before you ask, I use only genuine Sony accessories, the disc was clean and scratch free and my system has not bee modified in any way. The beige guys come out after you and you mow them down. The missiles, bullets and other trajectories can easily be avoided as the travel at about the same speed as you do.

The game uses both analog controls. But you can only fire and maneuver in a strictly 8 way mode. At times you can't hit your target because of this. Also, you can only shoot at your characters level. You cannot aim up or down. This gets bad as sometimes the enemy is about or below you.

The in game voice acting is crack you up bad! I mean it is so bad that it is laughable. The sound effects are week too.

Looks to me that the worst high tech threat is 3DO's inexplicably inability to see a bad game when they've created one, not the Green Rogue as described on the game box.

Hey 3DO, Sega is developing for the PS2 now. Be afraid. You may just find yourself without a fan base soon. Shame on you 3DO. I cannot trust a company that would release such a game as this.

I need to take a shower.
