| Best Video Games Ever.... According to Larry Tipton! | |
|
After much video game related soul searching I am now prepared to put into
writing my personal Top 10 of All Time Video Game list. Is was a very tough
task indeed. Many fantastic games were left off of the list. Anyway, here
goes ... in alphabetical order:

|
Final Fantasy III (Super Nintendo)
Before playing this game I used to be pretty snobbish about the whole RPG scene. If it was not PC based and from the likes of Origin it could not possibly be worthy, especially without a keyboard interface. Well, I made the "mistake" of picking up the game on a whim while taking some time off from work around the holidays. Well, several days later and I was hooked! FFIII is still my favorite game of this genre today. |

NHL Hockey (The Early Genesis Years)
This series "forced" me to buy a Genesis - not the blue hedgehog guy. I did not buy the console when it first came out. When I saw this one being played at a video game store I just had to have it. I've never regretted that decision. |

Pac Man (Arcade / Namco Classics PlayStation & Nintendo 64)
Ah, the memories. This one brought me into the arcades and pubs over and over again. Simple, yet highly challenging. I used to have dreams about this one after extended play sessions. I still play it today. In fact, now that it is out for the NEO*GEO Pocket I can take my friend with me! |

Rally Cross (PlayStation)
The BEST racing game on the PlayStation today. Sure this will be met with a lot of criticism but that's ok by me. I'm just glad the game is not stored on vinyl like those old music records. If so, I would have worn out the grooves a long time ago. The game is just so polished and realistic, yet it is not impossible to achieve victory if one takes the time to learn how to play the game. |

Samurai Shodown (NEO*GEO)
#1 Reason why I paid through the nose for my fist NEO*GEO home system. #1 Reason why I never sold the NEO*GEO home system. This game brought weapon's based combat to the forefront in the fighting genre. |

Soul Calibur (Dreamcast/ NOT the Arcade version)
Yup, I'm including a relatively new game on my all time list? Why? It's just that good. Ladies and gentleman, we have have officially moved up to a new level of gaming excellence and excitement. The game packs so much into one shinny disc. Amazing. |

Street Fighter II (Super Nintendo/Arcade)
This is why decided to pick up a Super Nintendo in the first place. I was sort of on the fence about the console until this game was announced. Sure, there were a few games out that looked interesting, but this one made me go out and buy the system so that I could play the quarter muncher at home. I still remember when I guy that I knew showed up with an early copy of the game (he worked for a retail store that received the game a week or so early). Man, we played the game all night! |

Super Mario World (Super Nintendo)
Platformer 101. If only one title of this type can be owned then this is the one to have. The levels are huge. They are fun. The graphics and sound are really terrific. The control is perfect. The challenges are varied. A game for the ages and all ages. |

Tempest 2000 (Atari Jaguar)
Why do I have three Jaguars? Call it insurance. I'd hate to think of a day when I could not play this fantastic, challenging shooter. All other incarnations on home consoles pale in comparison. This game was crafted with extreme care, for the fan of the original game. Tempest 2000 took the idea and expanded upon it beyond my wildest imagination. Thank you Mr. Minter. |

Tetris (Multi Systems)
A game that just sort of appeared on the market on just about every platform there is. A game so challenging, yet simple in design, that can be run without a regard to the CPU's power. A game that everyone seems to enjoy, even if they don't admit it. A gamer's game. |
