Rant by The Real Deal Himself!
Reuters reports that giant toy retailer Toys "R" Us' online counterpart will
sell GameCube exclusively as a bundle deal. No specifics were offered in
regards to what accessories and/or games buyers will be required to purchase
with the bundle yet.
Toys "R" Us recently offered a similar bundle for Microsoft's Xbox. Online
shoppers were forced interested in the console were forced to also pick up
three games, an extra controller, and a subscription to a videogame magazine
-- a $500 sale.
"We have historically noticed that consumers prefer to buy consoles this
way," said Jeanne Meyer, vice president of corporate communications for Toys
"R" Us.
Allow me to translate:
"We have historically noticed that consumers prefer to buy consoles this
way," said Jeanne Meyer, vice president of corporate communications for Toys
"R" Us, as her nose grew to Pinocchio-like proportions.
or:
"We have historically noticed that retailers prefer to sell consoles this
way, as we can gouge the early adopters for every penny," said Jeanne Meyer,
vice president of corporate communications for Toys "R" Us.
or:
"Want a Game Cube? Grab your ankles - INCOMING!" said Jeanne Meyer, vice
president of corporate communications for Toys "R" Us.
