PlayStation 2 Launch Rant

I would like to congratulate Sony on their Playstation 2 launch. Rarely have I seen such a display of ineptitude, arrogance, and complete and utter lack of respect for a company's loyal customers. Who the hell is running that company? The Tramiels?

As I am sure everyone knows by now, finding a Playstation 2 at launch is damn near impossible. I had my PS2 on preorder at Electronics Boutique since last Easter, and I have already been informed that I would not be getting one at launch. Sony is claiming parts shortages.

I am claiming SCAM.

Think about it. I preordered my PS2 over SIX FREAKING MONTHS AGO, and Sony couldn't figure out how many they needed to have ready? They say they can manufacture 100,000 units a week, and they've only been able to muster up 500,000?

So are we to believe that Sony just started putting these units together last month?

Of course not. They are doing the age old Cabbage Patch doll deal, trying to create a phenomenon. Instead of letting their loyal customers actually play games, Sony is playing games with their customers.

As far as I am concerned, this Christmas belongs to Sega. And by God, they deserve it. Tons of great games, online play, and half the cost of PS2, the Dreamcast has earned my respect.

Something that Sony has completely lost.
