Overrated Games

Ever notice that some "great" games aren't so great at all? Games such as Final Fantasy, Resident Evil, and the Zelda series are they really more than just a load of hype? Let's take a look at what I consider to be the most overrated games of all time.

Resident Evil (series): The entire game consists of walking from static screen to static screen, with an overly cumbersome control system that requires way too much effort for simple actions like shooting and running. The voice acting is generally atrocious, and the puzzles make no sense within the context of their environments.

Zelda (series): You walk all over hell's half-acre fighting boring monsters once in every great while. Dungeons see you solve logic puzzles that would really be more at home in a puzzle game than an adventure. Then you walk some more. Then you solve silly puzzles. Then you fight boring monsters then yawwwwwn you get sleepy.... and.... zzzzzzzzzzzzzz....

Final Fantasy (series): You walk all over hell's half acre, encountering random monster attacks that you can't avoid. Then you read a hackneyed story that sounds like it was written by a fifth grader during lunch hour. Never are you offered any real freedom to determine which way the story unfolds. You are basically just a pawn with no real input into how the game plays out. Oh yeah, and sometimes, you get to raise chicken-like creatures called chocobos.

Gran Turismo (series): A driving simulator? The most realistic racing game ever? Bah! This game is about as realistic as a Hot Wheels Stunt Track. These supposed "realistically modeled" sports cars can't corner at more than 30 MPH without spinning out in a wild 360. My old 1987 Ford Pickup can take turns better than that. Oh, and the graphics suck too. Don't whine about how great the replay is who cares about that? How does that affect the in-game experience? That's also why any game that has an ad showing replay graphics (anything other than behind the car) is pointless.

Tomb Raider (series): You walk all over hell's half-acre fighting boring attackers once in every great while. Different locations see you solve logic puzzles that would really be more at home in a puzzle game than an adventure. Then you walk some more. Then you solve silly puzzles. Then you walk... then this... sounds familiar, doesn't it? yawwwwwn.... you get sleepy.... and.... zzzzzzzzzzzzzz....

Sega Rally (series): Same deal as Gran Turismo. It claims to be realistic, but the cars in this game feel more like sleds going down a hill than anything with any kind of grip on the road. Want realism? Want fun? It ain't here. Maybe in Rally Cross, but definitely not here.

Wipeout (series): So in the future, vehicles move really fast and control like crap? That's what Psygnosis would have you believe. Bad control + bad gameplay + good graphics +good music = overrated game.
