"Cheating Is A Tactic For The Weak"

Reader Rant!!! NinpuchuJubei@aol.com.

It's like everyday life.

There are people who want to get better at the things they do...then there are people who want to just get by. There are just to many people who just want to get by.

Remember Milli Vanilli? They wanted the Platinum plaques, the mass respect, the Grammy's, the money. They wanted to do everything they can to get all that without any talent. For the most part, they succeeded. The sad part? Even though they got caught, they made it possible for a lot of talentless individuals to get platinum plaques, mass respect, Grammy's, and lots of money. No need for me to name any names...just turn on the radio. See what I mean?

I think it as a sad state of affairs to see people find easy ways out of a VIDEO GAME. You don't want to put in the effort of beating TOMB RAIDER, so you plug in that GameShark. So many people who suck at playing videogames are able to get high scores, unlock every single feature, and beat games in record time with no effort. The gamer who wants to get better is the one who tries to beat Strider 2 on the highest difficulty with no continues; the gamer who just want to get by will take full advantage of the INFINITE CONTINUES and then whine about it being "too short and too easy" (the latter pretty much describes almost every magazine writer who reviewed this game. Sad.) What makes things even sadder, a lot of programmers are cattering to these very people by setting their games on EASY difficulty levels and hidden warp levels...and these cheaters STILL need a GameShark to beat it!

There comes a time, however, when finding easy ways out will lose it's thrill. There will also come a time when these cheaters will be forced to showcase all the knowledge they claim to have. Either way, these cheaters are killing it for everybody. They are one of the many reasons why gaming has regressed over the past 5-6 years. Just like music. Just like everything else in life.

"Everybody wants to go to heaven, but nobody wants to do what it takes to get there."

All this because you want to find the easy way out of something. Like I said, sad.
