Takagisan tackles an encrypted game! The approach involves using two different sacrifical host cartridges. You have been warned...
The sacrificial host cartridges are Samurai Showdown and King of Fighters 99. You'll need to strip the PROGGS and CHAFIO boards. The other two are not needed. Transfer the "V"
and "P", "C" M1 and S1 chips to their appropriate locations
on the host boards. The circuit boards are clearly marked so just take
your time and put them in the right chip locations.
Note: From the expert at NeoBitz ...
"You can just use a Sengoku 3 AES as a sac as it has the proper boards for:
Zupapa
Nightmare in the Dark
Prehistoric Isle 2
Strikers 1945+
Bang Bead"
Thanks!
Verify that the following jumpers are set correctly on the CHAFIO board:
J1 off
J2 on
J3 on
J4 off
J5 on
J6 off
J7 on
J8 off
Note: Jumper on / off example...
Notes:
Takagisan noted that he neede two sac carts since the King of Fighters 99 PROGLBA's board has a NEO-SMA chip. Since Zupapa used a classic early edition PROGBK1 board it was just easier to use the PROGGS board from the Samurai Showdown cartridge. Now why take another sac cart?, because it's impossible to resoldered zupapa's V1 and P1 on the King 99 PROGLBA (due to the presence of a NEO-SMA chip on this board). The PROGBK1 of zupapa is a classic board that need a classic sac AES board for his V1 and P1 so a samourai 1 is perfect for that.
It is possible to use a Sengoku 3 cartridge instead of using the two cartridge approach mentioned. However, neither Takagisan nor myself have tried this.
Desoldering encrypted carts are quite hard to do since both sides have been soldered.
