!ARCADE! Phantom-1 Modification

Written by Tiptonium

I recently purchased the latest revision of !ARCADE!'s Phantom-1 from a fellow member on Neo-Geo.com . For those that are wandering what a Phantom-1 is it is basically an adaptor device that allows one to play Neo Geo MVS arcade cartridges using a home Neo Geo Console. Cool, huh?

The Phantom-1 adaptor has been working flawlessly. The only negative about the adaptor is that it can be a bit troublesome to line it up when inserting the thing in the home system cartridge slot. Wolf, a long time member of Neo-Geo.com, came up with a brilliant idea to correct this shortcoming for an otherwise superb product. Find a suitable home cartridge shell, cut off the top, and use it as a shell for the Phantom-1! Now my Phantom-1 slides into the home system slot as easily as a home cartridge. Sweet.

Here's the Phantom-1 placed into the bottom piece of the cartridge shell after cutting off the top of the cartridge. Note how the Phantom-1 holes lined up perfectly with the cartridge posts!

Note that a portion of the front of the cart casing had to be cut out for the video jacks.

I decided to glue a piece of tappered rubber molding around the top of the cartridge. I think it looks cool. Plus, it covers up the jagged hacksaw cut marks. ;-)

Now for a sticker!

And finally, here's what it looks like after inserting an MVS cartrdige into to topof the Phantom-1 and the Phantom-1 into the home console cartridge slot.

Oh, and here is the label...
