How to strip a board of it's IC chips quickly using an unconventional method...

First, the disclaimer: We at Tiptonium.com have not attempted to reomve chips in this way. We use typical solder / desolder gear. In the wrong hands, this approach can be quite a disaster. The tool used gets HOT, I mean REAL HOT. It is quite easy to burn yourself if not careful. Take time to read the manufacturer's manual before attempting to use such a device. You are 100% on you own if you attempt to use this approach to remove IC's. It can damage the boards or worse! This tool is designed to remove paint, thaw frozen pipes, dry plaster, form and bend PVC pipes, loosen rusted nuts and bolts and more. It was not intended to be used a a desolding gun.... yet, it seems to work, according to the "inventer" of this method, Dragonfly !!! Here is his approach, complete with pictures!

THE HEAT GUN DESOLDER METHOD

Tools needed: IC Puller, Heat Gun, Heat Resistant Gloves (recommended by Tiptonium anyway burning one's fingers is not conducive to Neo Geo gaming.)

Grab an IC using the IC puller. Heat the solder holding the IC's pins to the board. When the solder "colapses" simply remove the IC by applying slight pressure. It takes a couple of minutes for the solder to get hot enough. Be advised, that the board itself may become warped or damaged so don't try this on anything valuable.

You're on your own dude...
