Got Engrish?

I've been asked this quesion in one form or another countless times. Hey Tip, it's easy to to do an MVS to home format conversion project right?

Well, like many things in life, this is not a simple thing to answer.  Like ice skating, some folks find it easy and others find it impossibly hard.  The same is true with these projects.

Desoldering is tedious work, even if you have the right tools. The old solder emits toxic fumes so good ventilation is important. The desolder iron is quite hot and can easily damage the circuit boards if one is not careful. The traces can easily be disturbed and/or ruined.   The right (or wrong) tools can make or break the project.  Finding the right host boards are key. I do not recommend trace cut hackery but there are those that are skilled enough for this sort of work.

If you easily loose patience I'd recommend that you stay from this type of hobby.  Slow and steady is the key as are the right tools.
