Desolder Tip!

A simple and cheap method that can be used to remove chips from a PCB can be done as follows using a desolder braid (under $3) and a desolder iron (under $10) as shown in the following picture:

Just place the braid over the IC pins, then lighty press the desolder iron over each pin. You can use the bulb if you'd like but usually that is not necessary using this approach.
